Jimbo Fisher was 45-25 at Texas A&M and is expected to receive a buyout of about $77 million.
COLLEGE STATION — Texas A&M hired Jimbo Fisher six years ago to bring the Aggies their first national title since 1939. Instead A&M will owe him about $77 million as the Aggies show him the door. Fisher was fired Sunday after six seasons at A&M.
The Aggies defeated Mississippi State 51-10 on Saturday night at Kyle Field in what turned out to be Fisher’s swan song. “It’s not frustrating, but it’s disappointing at times,” Fisher said after the game of A&M’s 6-4 record and 4-3 showing in SEC play. “Like I’ve said, we’re three or four plays from playing in a playoff spot. But we’ve got to put that past us and grow from it and learn from it for next year.
