Like most any form of entertainment, drag can be raunchy or PG, playful or political. Comedy, lip-syncing, acrobatics and dancing is common.
“Accessing our full authentic selves is precious. It is healing, and it is everyone’s fundamental human right. To restrict drag, an art form, in any way is a direct attack on my fundamental rights as an American and as a performer,” Thomas said.
Sen. José Menéndez, D-San Antonio, asked who would decide whether a show is “prurient,” since the word isn’t defined in the bill. Hughes said enforcement was up to the attorney general and the courts.
