Texans give back at Blackshear Elementary
– Texans defensive tackle Maliek Collins hammed it up, smiling for photographs with Blackshear Elementary School students and his teammates on the defensive line.
Jonathan Greenard, with help from Toro, taught flag football skills, including route running and catching. And the Texans charitable foundation partnered with CoolxDad, a local nonprofit organization, to provide a special school picture day with portraits taken by the Texans’ team photographer and apparel given to the students at the Title I school in the Third Ward community.
“Oh man, it’s a great feeling to be able to get in the community and get involved with Texans Care and CoolxD with the rest of the D-line,” Collins said. “Everybody showed up everybody wanted to make a difference in the Houston community. “You’re obligated to be in this position and be blessed to give back to the community, a community very similar to the one I grew up in. I like to give back and be around and be involved. They’re excited. They get memories they get to have for a lifetime.”
