After being pressed into cornerback duties last season, the Texans expect much more from Desmond King with a full offseason at the position.PALM BEACH, Fla. — Desmond King was a former All-Pro when he initially signed with the Texans last year, a defensive back who’d spent four seasons returning punts while playing nickel safety.
So, the Texans moved King to the outside for the first time since he was a four-year starter at Iowa. The 5-10, 200-pound veteran struggled in his first start, a 40-0 loss to the Bills, but Houston’s staff was impressed enough by King’s gradual progression that they gave him a new two-year, $7 million contract earlier this month.
