“It’s always been a fight for credibility,” Dykes said. “You go back and look at the old days of the Southwest Conference, and TCU was kind of an also-ran for a number of years. Really, for probably three decades. “Any time you’re an underdog, it builds motivation,” said TCU linebacker Dee Winters of Burton. “To out there and prove everybody wrong. When we’re an underdog, that’s something we enjoy.”
