Woo Tan Scran was recognised for its vegan cuisine
A Liverpool takeaway has been recognised at the Golden Chopsticks awards just days before it is set to close.
Lark Lane vegan takeaway Woo Tan Scran won the Best Vegetarian/Vegan Dish award, following on from its best newcomer title in 2021. The Golden Chopsticks Awards seeks to recognise and celebrate the best East and South East Asian cuisine across the UK. Woo Tan Scran was Liverpool's first vegan Chinese chippy. The restaurant was set up by Jay Baker, Tim Leah, Conrad Sharp and Alex Woo in 2019 after they spotted a gap in the market.The team announced that the restaurant will be closing its doors on Sunday, October 2, adding that they are "not sure what the future holds." In a statement posted on Instagram, they said: "Another one bites the dust...
"We will be closing our doors on Sunday 2nd of October. We are down but not out, just saying cya to our little chip shop. We are not sure what the future holds but we need to make this move for woo tan to continue. We will be running a reduced menu from a centralized kitchen in town. Times are s**t for the little guys. No two ways about it.
"Thank you for all the love and support over the years, the Woo Tan Scran Gang has been incredible. Let's go out with a bang, a few more weeks of mayhem , sick tunes and belter scrans. Get down if you can to help us say goodbye to our little chippy. Lots of love WTS."
