He may be busy with a number of projects, but TaikaWaititi has taken some time to watch MsMarvel and loves it. 'It’s incredible the way they’ve done it. It’s not like, 'Oh, she happens to be Muslim' and you never see any of that.'

After the show was hit with a review bomb from toxic fans, Taika Waititi is sharing his thoughts on Ms. Marvel. Waititi previously made his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut with Thor: Ragnarok, in which he directed and co-starred as the Kronan gladiator Korg, scoring rave reviews for reinventing the Chris Hemsworth character and infusing unique humor to the franchise. Waititi would reprise his role of Korg for Avengers: Endgame and is now gearing up to return for Thor: Love and Thunder this week.

Iman Vellani leads the Ms. Marvel cast as Kamala Khan, a Pakistani-American teenager obsessed with superheroes, namely Captain Marvel, who comes into possession of a magical bangle granting her the power to harness cosmic energy. Having premiered this past June, the MCU series has received largely favorable reviews from critics for Vellani's performance, its brighter tone and fast-paced direction, though has seen some backlash and review bombing from the toxic side of the MCU fanbase.

"The best thing I’ve seen is 'Ms. Marvel.' It’s incredible the way they’ve done it. It’s not like, 'Oh, she happens to be Muslim' and you never see any of that. It’s all that side of her life, the entire thing." Ms. Marvel saw a major review bombing upon its premiere for a variety of reasons ranging from the change in Kamala's power origins from Inhuman genes to a magical bangle and its Muslim representation, which toxic audiences have criticized as being"woke.

Vellani herself recently responded to the Ms. Marvel review bombing and backlash, shaking off the hate directed towards the MCU show and calling it a series for"real Marvel fans." The division over the series has, unfortunately, seen it struggle in the ratings, becoming the least-watched MCU Disney+ show as it competes with both Obi-Wan Kenobi and The Boys season 3.
