Xcite venues at Livingston, Armadale and Broxburn were permanently closed yesterday
Swimmers were yesterday enjoying a “last dip” before the doors shut at their local leisure centres for good.West Lothian Leisure had requested council permission to close the three venues to save money, along with Howden Park Centre.Many people have been posting pictures of themselves enjoying a last visit to their pools and gyms in the days running up to the closures while others expressed their anger the facilities have been allowed to shut.
“It’s a disgrace. Whoever is at the top in charge of this closure should resign and never manage at the top again. I’ve heard all the excuses under the sun, but the end of the day you got us in the mess. The community shouldn’t have to pay.”She said yesterday: “Today is a very tough day as we see the closure of Armadale, Bubbles in Livingston and Broxburn pools close.
“I will shortly be meeting with Sports Minister Maree Todd to discuss how our local communities have been treated and I will continue to work with local groups and businesses to look at options. This has all happened so quickly by West Lothian Council there’s barely been time to work on real alternatives.
Over 100 comments were also posted on the Growing up in Livingston Facebook site, lamenting the loss of Bubbles.
