Suspected gunman arrested in Fourth of July shooting that killed one, injured one in Spring Valley [Breaking]
A 20-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an ambush shooting that left one man dead and another man injured in Spring Valley last month, a sheriff’s official said Thursday.
Trevion G’shon Austin, 20, was jailed Tuesday on suspicion of murder and other charges in the Fourth of July shooting that killed Fernando Kevin Villegas, 25. The shooting happened shortly after 10 p.m. on Central Avenue near Valencia Street, sheriff’s Homicide Lt. Joseph Jarjura said in a news release.Villegas and a 22-year-old friend were headed to a party hosted by another friend. When they pulled up, parked and got out, there was a group of people nearby, Jarjura said.Deputies, responding to reports of gunfire, found Villegas lying in the street. He had sustained several gunshot wounds to his upper torso and died at the scene.
Jarjura said the motive for the shooting is unknown, and the nature of any possible relationship between the suspected shooter and the victims remains unclear.
