The View co-host Sunny Hostin cautioned the judge overseeing the classified documents case against former President Donald Trump.
"She’s already been reversed on appeal. She’s being watched. The judge needs to be very, very careful," Hostin said.On Thursday, the former president was handed three additional felony charges to his classified documents case by special counsel Jack Smith.
The Republican presidential candidate is being accused of asking a Mar-a-Lago employee to delete security camera footage sought by investigators. The new defendant in the Trump case is Carlos De Oliveira, who is accused of allegedly attempting to destroy security footage on Trump's property.
Alyssa Farah Griffin doubted that the defendant would “break with Trump,” because Trump is “paying" the legal bills. She added that she wanted to"let the justice system work out" but also to hold the former president"accountable in the voting box."In July, U.S. District Court Judge Aileen Cannon set the start of the jury trial for May 20, 2024.
"This is a Miami jury. Just statistically, there will be Trump supporters on this jury. It’s not impossible that there could be a hung jury in this case. Even if it’s a rock-solid prosecution, the jury ends up deciding it. It could also get delayed. The court date for this is May 2024. Add a new defendant, new information, that could get punted to way late into next year," Farah Griffin said.
