Billy Walmsley will cycle over 1,800 miles in July to raise money in memory of his late brother, Massimo Docente who sadly passed away aged 21
A Lancashire man is cycling from Preston to Italy - a substantial feat, all in the memory of his late brother.
Massimo's brother, Billy Walmsley, says he's "never met anyone as strong and courageous as my brother" and will always be "an inspiration" to his older sibling. In his memory, Billy, 31, will be cycling an impressive route of over 1,800 miles in order to raise money, starting from their mother's house in Preston where Massimo lived, to Pescara in Italy, where his father's family is from.
Billy will be completing the journey on his own, stating that it represents the "isolation" his brother went through during Covid. He added: "It was almost, in a way, to put myself in similar shoes to him. I know I'm not going through a fraction of what he went through, but that's what it sort of represents."
The fundraiser will directly raise money for the Azaylia Foundation, which raises money to fight childhood cancer. It was set up in August 2021 in memory of Azaylia Diamond Cain, an eight-month old girl who passed away from acute myeloid leukaemia in April 2021.
