The National Weather Service is tracking a series of thunderstorms across New Jersey Wednesday afternoon.
Forecasters say a cold front associated with a low pressure system could cause thunderstorms to pop up in almost any part of New Jersey on Wednesday, but the highest probability of strong storms will be in the northern half of the state.
Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are expected to continue into the late afternoon and early evening before rain pushes off the coast by 8 p.m., setting up a cloudy, dry night with lows falling into the 50s. Areas shaded in dark green have the highest probability of getting hit by strong thunderstorms on Wednesday, June 14, according to forecasters from the national Storm Prediction Center.The weather service says dry, sunny conditions will return to New Jersey on Thursday, with highs in the upper 70s and low 80s, before a shot a showers and thunderstorms on Friday.
