BBC Strictly Come Dancing's most iconic Blackpool dances since 2004
Strictly Come Dancing is finally returning to Blackpool this weekend after three years away due to the pandemic.
Blackpool Week didn’t become an annual thing until 2009 onwards, with the exception of series 10 in 2012. We've collated some of the best moments, including the most iconic dance routines to take place in the famous Tower Ballroom over the years which can be seen below. The final saw Denise, Jill and Julian battle it out for the Glitterball Trophy. Each couple danced three times, with Jill and partner Darren Bennett scoring a perfect 40 for their Jive to 'I’m Still Standing' by Elton John. They went on to be crowned the winners.
Viva Elvid brought their Cirque du Soleil show to Blackpool with a performance of 'Blue Suede Shoes', while Duffy performed her song 'Well, Well, Well'. Patsy and partner Robin Windsor, and Felicity and partner Vincent Simone found themselves in the bottom two, with the latter being eliminated. Jessie J was the musical guest who performed her hit single 'Price Tag'. Harry and Aliona Vilani went on to be victorious.
2014 For series 12, Strictly returned to Blackpool in week eight. Frankie Bridge, Jake Wood, Sunetra Sarker, Simon Webbe, Judy Murray, Mark Wright, Pixie Lott, Steve Backshall and Caroline Flack performed. Shirley Bassey sang the iconic 'Goldfinger', while McBusted performed 'Air Guitar'. Georgia and partner Giovanni Pernice topped the leader board with a score of 38 for their American Smooth to 'I Have Nothing' by Whitney Houston which you can watch below. Peter and partner Janette Manrara, and Jamelia and partner Tristan MacManus were in the bottom two, with Jamelia and Tristan going home.
