The startling satellite image, captured on Tuesday, shows the second named storm of the year making its way towards the UK from the north of France. With extensive flooding forecast in areas of Scotland that are already saturated following Storm Agnes last month, the Met Office upgraded its weather warning for rain in eastern Scotland to amber — as some regions could see more than a month's worth of rain in only a few days.
Storm Agnes battered the country with winds of up to 80mph in September, while several regions of Scotland were struck by floods after days of torrential rain resulted in rivers overflowing.
