People in eight flood alert areas have been urged to protect themselves and their property from the deluge.
Scotland is beset with flood warnings today as Met Office forecasters have warned Storm Babet could unleash up to 10 inches of rain.
Fourteen flood alerts are in effect across much of the country by the Scottish Environment Protection Agency . The agency has issued eight flood warnings - a more urgent alert which indicates imminent flooding requiring "immediate action". Flood warnings have been issued in areas in Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen City, Dumfries and Galloway, Dundee and Angus, Orkney Areas. The warnings are issued three to six hours in advance of forecast flooding.
Much of Scotland is under a flood warning which indicates flooding is possible within two hours and two days. Scots in these areas are advised to be prepared to act on flood plans and prepare a flood kit of essential items.
