U.S. equities rose at the opening bell on Tuesday, following a round of better than expected corporate earnings. The S&P 500 SPX, +0.33% rose 0.3% to 2,914. The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, +0.47% advanced 135 points, or 0.5%, to 26,520. The Nasdaq Composite COMP, +0.35% was up 0.3% to 8,002. All three benchmarks are inching closer to their all-time highs established late last year. The broad-based S&P 500 is less than 1% away from its record close set in Sept. 20.
