The lighter rains associated with the warm front are expected to continue through the morning and into the early afternoon."Depending on where you are in the Bay Area, you’ll get a little bit of a break maybe early to mid-afternoon," Garcia said."If you’re in the North Bay, no break for you."
The heaviest rain is forecast to fall between 3 p.m. Wednesday and 3 a.m. Thursday as the cold front sweeps California. The heavy rains will likely arrive in the North Bay first and push southward into the central Bay Area and South Bay. The North Bay is forecast to receive the most rain.Extremely heavy rain and thunderstorms are likely within this time period, and hail is possible.
"Right along the frontal boundary will be the highest rainfall rates and that's going to be tough to nail down," said Sean Miller, a forecaster with the weather service. On Wednesday and Thursday, the North Bay is predicted to pick up as much as 3 to 5 inches in the valleys, 4 to 6 inches in the hills and 8 to 10 inches in mountains, the weather service said. Amid the torrential North Bay rains, theis forecast to spill over its banks and flood nearby homes, businesses and roads. The water level in Guerneville, a riverside town in Sonoma County's famed Wine Country, sat at about 11 feet on Tuesday. It is expected to swell to 35.
