Reportedly featuring Donald Glover's return to the role after his appearance in 2018's Solo: A Star Wars Story, the spin-off show was first announced in 2020 though updates regarding the series have been rather slim. However, it's recently been confirmed that the show is moving forward, albeit with brand-new writers.
Originally reported by Above the Line and corroborated by both Gizmodo and Variety, it's been revealed that Lando's original writer Justin Simien has exited the project with Glover himself now writing the script along with his brother Stephen. With a deal having been struck with Lucasfilm before the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, it will likely be some time before development on Lando resumes with the Glovers.
After a long drought of zero updates, this new report for Lando is very exciting. Not only does it confirm that development for the show will indeed be happening after the conclusion of the strikes, but it also generates even more excitement considering the fact that the Glovers are an Emmy-winning writing duo.
