Star Wars has finally explained how the Sith Wayfinder found in Rise of Skywalker was created, setting up a link to the Dawn of the Jedi.
Star Wars has finally revealed how the Sith Wayfinder in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker really works. The Sith Wayfinder was essentially the MacGuffin of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, a mysterious ancient Sith relic that could be plugged into a navicomputer to guide a ship to the ancient Sith redoubt of Exegol.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Tessa Gratton's Quest for Planet X stars Jedi Padawan Rooper Nitani, who allies with teenagers from two of the High Republic's wealthiest families to seek out the mysterious Planet X. A mysterious world rich in the Force, Planet X is somehow associated with the dangerous Force predators known as the Levelers .
The Wayfinder is a little more sophisticated than that, of course. In fact, there have been hints in canon that its computational power - used to create navigational routes - became the basis for the first Sith Holocrons, with Luke Skywalker himself noting the similarities between the devices.
The First Wayfinders Predated The Jedi & The Sith Surprisingly, though, Star Wars: The Bad Batch season 2, episode 5 suggested the first Wayfinders predated the Jedi and the Sith. It saw Echo discover a mysterious Star Compass, deliberately designed to evoke memories of the one Luke Skywalker used in Star Wars: The Last Jedi - but far older. The technology was said to originate with a race called the Ancients, who existed over 25,000 years ago, before the dawn of the Jedi.
