The collection is said to “mirror the street culture that’s curating the worlds of fashion, music, sports and art,” according to the brands.is a way for Staple to pay homage to its roots in basketball and street culture, said Jeff Staple, the brand’s founder.
“In the early days of Staple, the first people to ever help with the brand were friends I met on the playgrounds of the Lower East Side,” he said. “With Wilson’s legacy in producing sports equipment and for us, celebrating over 25 years in, there are so many synergies between Wilson and Staple. When this opportunity came about, it felt like a natural fit.”Staple explained he focused on a timeless design aesthetic for the basketballs, designing the pieces in gray and black.
“Timelessness is always front and center in what we do, so finding an expression of our signature color palette that gets better with age was the ultimate goal,” Staple continued. “What I love about the final designs are at first glance they appear fairly neutral, but with a closer look there are plenty of details fusing the Wilson and Staple brand identities.”inspired by New York City bodegas and the hockey team’s mantra of “No Quit in New York.” .
