The station is on Oakland Avenue
CONCORD — A stabbing in front of a BART station Monday night hospitalized a person, officials with the transit system said.
The man, whose approximate age was not released, was expected to survive his injuries and remained in stable condition at John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek on Tuesday morning, according to an email from BART spokesperson Jim Allison. Police arrested a 70-year-old Castro Valley man on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, Allison said. Police continued Tuesday morning to investigate the circumstances that led to the stabbing, he said.
According to BART, the stabbing happened in front of the Concord station in the 1400 block of Oakland Ave. Allison said BART Crisis Intervention specialists found the victim lying in the bus zone in front of the station. BART did not stop trains at the station for about 10 minutes, beginning about 7:25 p.m., according to the agency. They resumed full service after that interruption.
