Experts say uBiome's use of stock photos could violate government rules that require consumer endorsements to feature actual consumers unless a company discloses otherwise
On its website, lab-testing company uBiome Inc. featured a photo of a man offering a testimonial for one of its tests. “After using SmartGut, I realized that a lot of my immunity issues stemmed from the lack of bacteria in my microbiome,” read a quote under the photo.
The same man’s photo appears on numerous websites, including the Magnus Search Recruitment agency website. That site identifies the photo as “Jonathan” from Camden, who touts “the lengths that Matt and the guys went to secure me a great position.”
