The Solon Board of Education has approved a security measure that Superintendent Fred Bolden said will help make the district more resistant to intruders.
On Monday , the board authorized the purchase and installation of 3M Ultra S800 clear security film for interior and exterior windows in an amount not to exceed $166,099.
“We don’t say bullet proof – because nothing really is – but it is bullet resistant and intruder resistant so that it’s difficult to penetrate those windows, and it will help keep our students safe from external threats.” Start with Hello Week ties in with Sandy Hook Promise, a nonprofit organization that helps schools implement programs that support solutions for safer and healthier schools, Bolden said.
Students throughout the district are participating in theme days and educational activities, aimed at promoting a more unified and inclusive school environment, Bolden said.
