Both the SNP and Labour are pouring huge resources into the Rutherglen by-election campaign ahead of polling day on October 5.
The SNP has admitted it paid for leafleters to go door-to-door handing out flyers during a crunch by-election campaign.
The SNP has now said it paid a "reputable third-party business" to hand deliver leaflets which claimed only its candidate, Katy Loudon, would deliver a "strong voice" for local people. An SNP spokesperson said: "The distribution of this leaflet was outsourced to a reputable third-party business." She won the seat for the SNP in 2019 but was suspended by the party after it was discovered she had ignored strict lockdown rules on travel after testing positive for coronavirus. The Record previously revealed how Labour was accused of bussing in party activists from elsewhere in the UK to boost its campaign teams.
