Snitch opens with John's son Jason being arrested by the DEA after reluctantly accepting a package he knows to be filled with drugs from a friend.
Those facing these sentences are encouraged to snitch on connections to reduce their own sentences. Unfortunately, since Jason has no real links to that world, there's nobody he can offer up. Fearing his son won't survive his entire term, John then makes a deal with Keeghan to become a snitch on Jason's behalf. Since he runs a respectable construction company, he tells drug dealer Malik that he could make drug runs on his behalf with minimal risk.
Armed with the money and El Topo's number, John calls Cooper and gives him both. Unfortunately, the cartel learns the truth about John's son and surmises he's an informant. El Topo's men then try to kill John while he's riding the truck, and while he fights most of them off, the truck eventually crashes. Luckily for John, the DEA arrives just in time to save him from the surviving cartel henchmen.
Cooper Arrests El Topo Having been tipped off about John's real goals, El Topo decides to flee. The DEA tracks his phone signal back to his house, but a raid reveals he's already left. Thankfully, an attentive Cooper spots El Topo's car driving down a nearby street, and he swoops in for the arrest.
