Kyle Gallner gives an emphatic response to his potential Smile 2 return after starring in the original horror movie that became a viral hit.
With development now officially underway on the follow-up, Kyle Gallner has an emphatic response for his potential Smile 2 return. Gallner starred in the 20220 horror movie as Joel, a police detective and ex-boyfriend to Sosie Bacon's Rose who finds himself wrapped up in her race against time to discover the nature of the curse she has seemingly inherited and how it connects to a string of suicides from the past.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT This past week saw Paramount Pictures confirm at CinemaCon that Smile 2 was in the works after the original horror movie became a viral hit and was one of 2022's most porfitable films. Gallner swiftly took to his Twitter to celebrate the announcement, revealing that while he doesn't know anything about his potential return, he is excited about the horror sequel.
Why Gallner Should Return For Smile 2 At the time of its release, Smile frequently found itself compared to a number of other horror movies centered on protagonists who have seemingly been cursed by an entity that will eventually kill them, namely that of The Ring and It Follows, some of which were positive comparisons, while others were negative.
By the end of the original film, Joel was left in a unique predicament as Rose ultimately succumbed to possession from the entity and having her set herself on fire in front of Gallner's character, subsequently traumatizing him and resulting in the curse being passed on to him.
