The writer and actor was axed after derogatory comments made about contestants were made public
Simon Cowell said he had no say in choosing David Walliams replacement on Britain's Got Talent but has spoken to the sacked judge.
And speaking for the first time about the shake up, Cowell said: "It's not the ethos of the show. I said at the time, these comments were completely unacceptable. I hadn't heard them before and it was upsetting."But from where I sat, this wasn't something I believe that was constant. Most of the time he seemed very respectful.
Cowell has spoken to Walliams since the controversy but is understandably not keen to dwell on the subject, Mirror Online reports. "We had a conversation, but he owned what he said. He wasn't proud of what he said. It's not something I would ever condone." "It was seamless and as I said before, he's brought some chaos to the show. But I'm kind of watching the show through his eyes again because he has never seen it and he's so excited. It really is great."
