Sierra Canyon’s depth at running back could prove valuable in this week’s Mission League game against Serra.

CHATSWORTH — Terrell Cooks put on football pads when he was 9 years old and immediately gained attention. His coach nicknamed him “Chop” because of how his feet chopped up the grass whenever he ran.
The Trailblazers have a deep running back room led by the one-two punch of Cooks and Dunn . The run game shaped by the duo could prove valuable when Sierra Canyon hosts Serra on Friday at 7 p.m. “It feels amazing,” Dunn said of being on the field with Cooks, “because you have two great guys on the same package. It just feels like we could do either one, run it or pass it. Whoever it goes to, something’s going to happen.”
“Sometimes players feel like they need to be on varsity right away and it gets to them mentally,” Dunn said. “And I’m like, you’re still young. You have time. It’s not going to be handed to you. You just got to keep your head down, be humble, stay focused and give it all you got.” “We want to get guys to the finish,” Rocha said. “There’s no rhyme or reason. You look at a kid like Dane Dunn who had a great season last year, but you’re also 5-8. Like, we can’t give you the ball 300 times. We just can’t.”
