Siblings who went missing after mother's murder in Mexico found safe [Breaking]
The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department said two children believed missing in Mexico have now been found safe and are with their family members in San Diego.
Baja California authorities issued an Amber Alert for the siblings Monday afternoon, asking for the public’s help in finding Juliette Itzel Barrera Garibay, 2, and Sebastián Isaiah Garibay, 6. Family members say their mother, Precius Alessandra Kari Garibay, was fatally shot on Sunday night, after dining in Puerto Nuevo, just south of Rosarito.
“The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department can confirm the missing children have been located and are with their family. The Sheriff’s Department has now closed this missing persons investigation,” said a sheriff’s spokeswoman. Baja California Attorney General Iván Carpio Sánchez said Wednesday a homicide investigation is ongoing regarding the fatal shooting death of Alessandra, who lived in San Diego County. Authorities confirmed the 21-year-old mother was shot while she was traveling just outside Tijuana. She was seriously injured and rushed to Hospital General in Tijuana where she was pronounced dead.
Carpio indicated it was too early in the investigation to name a suspect or a person of interest, adding: “We’re not making advanced judgements. All information is useful, and we have every confidence in the abilities of our investigators to collect the scientific evidence and find out what happened in due time.”
