Shrek 5 is officially in development with plans to bring back the original cast, however, one green princess may not be part of the new installment.
Dreamworks recently announced its intention to make Shrek 5 and many original cast members are on board, however, the franchise's iconic princess Fiona may not be returning for the newest installment. Shrek is 2001 animated film that has produced three sequels and a two-movie spinoff franchise, Puss in Boots. The franchise revolves around an antisocial ogre named Shrek who begrudgingly becomes the hero of his own fairy tale.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Cameron Diaz Is A Problem For Shrek 5 Although it would be ideal for Shrek 5 to bring back the entire main cast of the franchise, the chances of Cameron Diaz returning to play Fiona could be slim. In 2014, after playing Miss Hannigan in Annie, Diaz stopped appearing in films and had decidedly quit acting. However, her hiatus seemed to end when she took a leading role in an upcoming action film, Back to Action, alongside Jamie Foxx.
