This is the shocking moment an off-duty police officer in Birmingham slapped a 12-year-old schoolboy around the face whilst holding car keys as she tried to break up a fight outside a school

In the video, a group of schoolchildren can be seen swinging for each other and screaming before ex-police constable Sharanjit Kaur, 41, enters the scene in civilian clothes and grabs one of the boys.'Who are you', the boy replies back, before he is slapped around the face by Kaur, who was holding car keys at the time.

On Monday, the former officer was sentenced for assault after she was charged following an investigation by the Independent Office for Police Conduct. IOPC Regional Director Derrick Campbell said: 'Police officers may only use force when it is necessary, proportionate, and reasonable in the circumstances. There was no policing purpose or any other justification for the officer to strike the boy, who posed no genuine risk to her.
