Longoria, who is hitting .194 since returning from finger surgery, was sidelined with another injury Tuesday. Plus, top prospect Kyle Harrison was promoted to Double-A Richmond.
SAN FRANCISCO — Sometime recently, Giants manager Gabe Kapler pulled up Evan Longoria’s stats from last season.
On Tuesday, another injury kept Longoria from logging any more plate appearances, for now. Kevin Padlo, acquired from the Mariners last month, got the start at third base, after Longoria jammed his left shoulder diving for a baseball at third base on Monday. “So good. Bat speed’s there. Quickness is there. Athleticism is there,” Kapler said. “When I think about Longo, I think about the same dude who was so effective for us last year.”
Papierski, a switch-hitter, also pinch-hit for Bart in the seventh inning of Monday night’s game, after the Mets replaced their left-handed starter with right-hander Colin Holderman.
