BREAKING: Tornado Warning for Brooklyn and Queens until 5 a.m. after a night of heavy storms
Severe thunderstorms rolling through the region prompted a brief tornado warning for parts of New York City early Tuesday morning.
A Tornado Warning was in effect for Brooklyn and Queens from 4:35 a.m. until 5 a.m. Tuesday; it expired with no tornadoes, however. Flash Flood Warnings are still in place until 7:30 a.m. for much of the city, though. The warnings follow a round of severe weather that rolled through all evening long, with lightning and heavy rains. Parts of northeastern New Jersey reported some flash flooding from the heavy downpours, with some areas recording up to 2 inches of rain in as little as an hour.
