An NHS gynaecologist involved in an abortion case that saw a mother-of-three jailed has described his concern that more women will now be prosecuted under similar circumstances 🔴 Exclusive from connie_dimsdale

An NHS gynaecologist involved in an abortion case that saw a mother-of-three jailed has described his concern that more women will now be prosecuted under similar circumstances.on Monday for administering drugs to procure abortion, contrary to the 1861 Offences Against the Person Act.

Dr Lord said: “No woman or family should ever have to endure the trauma they’ve been put through over the past three years, let alone be sent to prison for being in such a desperate situation, and in such emotional turmoil, that she fell foul of a Victorian-era law.” Dr Lord is the co-chair of the British Society of Abortion Care Providers – one of the signatories of an independent letter sent by medical professionals after catching wind of the court case.

Mr Justice Pepperall deemed the letter “inappropriate” and said those who disagree with the law should lobby parliament and not judges who have the duty to apply the law.
