Heng Lam was killed during a robbery May 22, 2019, while working his shift as a store clerk at a Garland convenience store. In February, a different jury also convicted Emmanuel Martinez, 21, of capital murder. He was also sentenced to life in prison.during the trial that he loaned guns and gloves to Martinez and Espinoza. Miranda lived a few blocks away from the store.
Espinoza’s lawyer, Steven Hayden, argued Miranda was the other shooter who accompanied Martinez and pointed the finger at Espinoza to throw off police.he and Espinoza were going to “do licks,” meaning robberies.Espinoza never told her he was the shooter, she said
