Mayor Bruce Harrell announced Friday that Seattle will pivot to a mobile and partner-led strategy to reach families who have not received the COVID-19 vaccine.
This announcement comes as the omicron wave crests and more than 90% of residents have received one dose of the vaccine.“Seattle and the country are entering the next phase of the COVID-19 pandemic, and we are responding by refocusing resources on communities most at risk of being left behind. Vaccines and boosters remain critical to limit the spread and severity of this virus, which continues to be deadly to our most vulnerable neighbors,” said Harrell.
The West Settle clinic will close after Feb. 26 and the Rainier Beach clinic’s last day will be March 3. With those inequities, the city is using the Seattle Fire Department and Othello Pharmacy providers in conjunction with community organizations to reach the unvaccinated.
