Everton boss Sean Dyche gives his verdict after 1-0 defeat at home to Arsenal in Premier League

The Blues boss believes his side should have been awarded a first half penalty and queried the lack of additional time at the end of the game - fourth official Anthony Taylor signalling for just 240 seconds during a season in which many games have exceeded 100 minutes.

But he was clearly frustrated by the officiating on an afternoon in which Everton’s search for a first win of the Premier League season was extended by another week.RATINGS: Everton player ratings as Jarrad Branthwaite good but two stars poor vs Arsenal After the match, Dyche said: “I can’t work out why we don’t get a penalty for Doucoure, for the simple reason that in the second half Beto pushed it past a centre-half and he [Gabriel] got booked [for bringing him down]. It was a very similar challenge to me. But then again I think we all lose clarity on what is and is not a penalty."

He said: “Four minutes at the end - two weeks ago they almost can’t wait for a goal by adding more minutes onto those given, yesterday I think it was 17 minutes at Villa. I don’t know about some of these things, I know it will take a while to iron out but you do need some of these things to work for you and not against you, that is for sure.”
