James Garner could challenge for the starting line-up as either right-back or in his favoured midfield role as Everton look to banish Arsenal disappointment
The big question heading into Everton’s trip to Brentford is perhaps whether James Garner should get an opportunity and, if so, in what position?
With Sean Dyche having made the decision to drop Nathan Patterson on Sunday it does potentially pave the way for Garner to play there in London - the 22-year-old was excellent in that position as he helped England’s Under-21s win the European Championships in the summer. This was one of the major downfalls of the performance against Arsenal - when it did get the ball the midfield was unable to pick a pass and act as a springboard for attacks. Alex Iwobi is a big loss in that regard. Whether from the middle or out wide he was often able to relieve pressure on the defence by carrying the ball from deep or finding the feet of a forward player.
