The 27-year-old said extensive issues in the home include a corroded outdoor pipe flooding her garden, rats crawling in and out of her pipes, a hole in her wall and several door frames without doors.
A Scots mum living in a "crumbling" home riddled with issues is desperate to move as she says the property is not fit to live in. Emma Charlton moved into the council house in Penicuik in 2019 but repairs have been needed non-stop since, with rats even scurrying in and out of her pipes.
She said: "The pipes had been reported within the first year of me moving in and one completely corroded away and snapped about two years ago. "The door frames don't hold a proper door so I've not got a door on three rooms. The ones I do have don't fit and never have. I've tried getting it up to standard but as soon as I touch anything it just crumbles."
She also claimed to have reported an issue with her boiler several times as the pressure reading displays at zero but has been told it needs a new part."It's not just me that it is impacted, it's my kids too. There just isn't enough room in a two-bedroom house for five people. There's always something at my feet and me and my baby sleep in the living room.
