Efforts to extinguish the fire were so intensive that Scottish Water had to issue an alert to locals
In all, six fire engines were sent from across the Kingdom to battle the fire at Frances Industrial Estate on Wemyss Road in Dysart, near Kirkcaldy. A water bowser – a giant mobile water tank – was also sent to the scene to provide additional support, along with a height appliance and a major incident command vehicle.
Despite the scale of the fire, no injuries have been reported. Images provided to the Record show huge plumes of smoke erupting into the sky from the estate. In a post on its Facebook page, the business said: "We are devastated that our family business of over 30 years was destroyed by a fire yesterday. Thankfully nobody was injured.
A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were alerted to a fire at a commercial premises in Wemyss Road, Dysart, at 3.23pm on Saturday April 15. We sent six appliances to the scene as well as a high reach and command vehicle.
