Scottish government cannot hold an independence referendum without UK government’s consent, the Supreme Court has ruled
The court unanimously ruled that the Scottish Government does not have the legal power to call a second vote. Lord Reed said: "The Scottish Parliament does not have the power to legislate for a referendum on independence.
