Chemical waste, such as dyes and pesticides, is becoming an increasingly serious problem, frequently ending up in water bodies.
“Many conventional quantum dots are toxic, because they’re derived from heavy metals,” said Md Palashuddin Sk, an assistant professor of chemistry at Aligarh Muslim University in India. In addition to detecting pollutants, Cdots have shown the potential to break down water-based pollutants such as pesticides and dyes.
