Immanuel College in Bushey Heath has requested permission for a teaching block, which is next to the school’s tennis courts, to be demolished over the summer holidays.
This is to ensure the safety of the 700 students aged four to 18 who attend the independent school, according to the proposal submitted to Hertsmere Borough Council. The site backs on to existing derelict buildings in the grounds owned by Rosary Priory – independent living retirement homes.Immanuel College, which is a private co-educational Jewish day school, intends to build a replacement building on the same site and will submit a planning application for this later.
Plans submitted on May 26 state the work will have “no adverse impact to the surrounding area” and contractors will keep parts of the old building for re-use.
