Schools in Leeds and Bradford are on lockdown
Police in West Yorkshire are tonight investigating a threating email sent to schools this morning. Detectives say "schools in other parts of the country have received similar malicious emails" in an updated statement which confirms an investigation into malicious communications has been launched.
A number of schools in Leeds and Bradford that received the email have been placed on 'soft lockdown' as a result. The procedure involved gates, doors and windows being closed.A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: "Police are aware of an email which has been sent to a number of schools in Leeds and Bradford today. The contents of the email are being investigated by police and officers are providing reassurance and safety advice to affected schools.
