San Jose Sharks captain Logan Couture is out indefinitely with a lower-body injury

SAN JOSE — San Jose Sharks captain Logan Couture is considered week-to-week with a lower-body injury, putting his availability for the team’s Oct. 12 season-opener with the Vegas Golden Knights into question.

Couture said the injury didn’t take place at one particular moment, but rather happened over time earlier this offseason as he began training for the upcoming year. Couture, 34, was projected to be the Sharks’ second-line center for a Sharks team that is already adjusting to life without Erik Karlsson, who was traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins last month.
