The driver of a Honda sedan entered the southbound lanes of Highway 101 from Blossom Hill Road and traveled northbound in the wrong direction, according to the CHP.The driver of the Honda was ejected from the sedan and landed in the center divide, where he was pronounced dead roughly 15 minutes later, according to the CHP.
The CHP identified the driver as a 22-year-old San Jose man. The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office will release his full identity once it is confirmed and his next of kin is notified. Diesel fuel spilled from the damaged big rig and flowed into the center divide, the CHP said. San Jose firefighters and California Department of Transportation workers stopped the spill from spreading.
