San Diego Council Committee to hear pitch for “Midway Rising” Sports Arena redevelopment proposal. The plan would include 2,000 affordable housing units, and 2,250 other homes. As well as a small 14,500 seat arena, which they claim is 'world class.'
SAN DIEGO – Two city leaders will Thursday present Mayor Todd Gloria’s recommendation for the development project in the Midway neighborhood that includes the Sports Arena area to the City Council’s Land Use and Housing Committee.
“This project represents big city energy and I look forward to getting this done for the Midway community and our city,” Gloria said. Developers had to mark 25% of proposed housing units as affordable and preference was given to developers with the highest number of proposed affordable units and the highest levels of affordability.
