Diana Fuentes says she's eager to modernize the pivotal job, calling the position crucial but not glamorous
San Diego has appointed the first Latina ever to the role of city clerk, a high-level position that includes overseeing city elections, organizing council agendas and managing records with a focus on transparency.
Her predecessor, Elizabeth Maland, was the first woman and held the job from 2005 to early this year.
