SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Zoo has taken a major step in preserving and growing the Texas Horned-Lizard population.
The zoo’s Center for Conservation and Research released 34 of the lizards into the Texas landscape on Wednesday. These tiny horned lizards hatched at the zoo over the Summer. The goal is to return this iconic species to places where it has disappeared. So far in 2023, the zoo has released nearly 200 Texas Horned Lizards with another release planned for later in October.
