San Antonio is experiencing its hottest summer on record. It could become the new normal, according to the National Weather Service
Andrew Dessler, a professor of atmospheric sciences at Texas A&M, told Texas Monthly that while this is the hottest summer since 2011, an 11-year gap between such hot summers, those gaps may shorten with another record-setting summer in"eight years, and then six years, and so on."
While there's no guarantee of summers filled with extreme heat like this year moving forward, the risk of extreme heat is increasing, White noted.
